A Brighter Future for Everyone
Curriculum Intent
At Claremont, we believe that RE allows children the opportunity to ask questions both of their own ideas and of the world around them. Children are equipped with the skills to develop their own ideas, values and identity.
Our RE curriculum provides children with a well-rounded view of the different world religions. We aim to guide them in their understanding of the key elements within each religion, how these are celebrated and to promote tolerance and understanding towards all religious beliefs. In doing so, we promote self-reflection and aim for all children to understand how their own beliefs and ideas are both similar and different to others around them. Children should develop a deeper understanding of their own opinions/beliefs and tolerance and respect for the opinions/beliefs of others. Children feel empowered to participate and contribute to the diverse society in which we live in and reflect on the impact of world religions and viewpoints on contemporary life.
At Claremont, we use the Nottinghamshire SACRE Agreed Syllabus in class. During the year, we also hold assemblies and have special celebration days where we focus on a variety of religious celebrations and festivals.
