A Brighter Future for Everyone
Curriculum Intent
At Claremont, we believe that History offers children to opportunity to develop their knowledge of the past and their skills of enquiry in order for them to become inquisitive thinkers who are keen to explore the past while thinking ahead to the future.
Our History curriculum is comprehensive, diverse and engaging. Children are taught to think critically and ask questions while learning about significant events and people and placing them within our British chronological narrative. We aim to teach children the importance of enquiry, research and analysis, and teach an understanding of the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and the relationships between different groups. The children develop their knowledge of Britain's past and our place in the world which helps them to understand successes and challenges of our own time.
We aim to ensure our History curriculum reflects the diverse local and wider community in which we live. Our curriculum covers local Nottingham history to ensure children understand that events in our small city can have a lasting impact throughout the world.
