Year 5 Mini Police

Mini Police - Hate Crime Awareness Week

Last week, as part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, PCSO’s Thomas and PCSO Oram visited two of our Mini Police schools to speak to our Mini Officers about Hate Crime.

The children, at Djanolgy Academy Sherwood Rise and Claremont Primary School were introduced to Hate Crime and what this means to them. The lesson ended with the children showing ‘Things we have in common’, by talking about the activities they enjoy doing and making a chain linking these activities. From both schools, we have made a large flower which shows the children having lots in common with children from the other school.

PCSO Thomas said “We were both really impressed with the children’s understanding of peoples differences and the importance of being respectful to each other. We also made sure the children had an understanding of who can help if they do witness or if they are victims of a hate incident or crime themselves. It’s been really good to get back into our Mini Police schools meeting the new intake of children, and we are looking forward to working with them this year and to sharing our activities with everyone.”
