Spring Term

Our new topic is Fallen Fields

Children have been learning about the Suffragettes and the oppression women suffered in that period of history. Children have combined their knowledge about the suffragettes with their letter writing skills to write letters in the role of an imprisoned suffragette.

Children have started to gain an understanding of the causes of the first world war. They mapped out the central and allied powers on a world map.

We have also been learning about life as a soldier in WW1. Children used a video clip of 'The Piano' to write a flashback narrative in the role of a WW1 soldier.

After half term, children will be writing arguments around the use of Pals Battalions and young boys as soldiers in the war efforts.

Autumn Term

We have been learning about the Titanic in our English lessons. Children produced newspaper reports to report the devastating tragedy of the sinking of the Titanic.
