ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEPTEMBER

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope that you are all safe and well at this difficult time.  I appreciate that time is short but I am aware that we need to share as much information with you all as soon as it is available.  Again, I would like to thank you all for your support, resilience and patience during the crisis and ask that you continue to support us in this way as we reopen to all pupils from September.

All the staff that I have spoken with have expressed how proud they are of the children and how well they have responded to the challenges that we have faced.

We have now finalised the timings and arrangements for our September start. We know that school will be a little different at the start of the Autumn term and welcome your patience and understanding as we get all children back into school.

The following changes are in response to the latest government guidance.  Our main aim is to keep our school community safe and to do this we ask that you follow the new systems and procedures.

Drop Off/Pick Up Times

To minimise the amount of people on the school playground, we will be using staggered start and finishing times. This will be based on the child’s surname. Using this system, it allows siblings to start at the same time.

The timings below are for Years 1 – 6 only from 2nd September – Nursery and Reception pupils have your own arrangements as outlined in a previous letter.

You can drop your child off at school by either gate (Claremont Road or Fern Avenue) and we ask that you leave your children with the adult at the gate who will direct them to the correct classroom entrance.

Please can you ensure that only 1 adult per family brings children to the appropriate drop-off gate (at the times listed below).  It is important that you leave the gate/school site as soon as you have dropped your child off to minimise contact with others.  When collecting your child(ren) at the end of the day, please collect them from the gate that you dropped them off at.

When you arrive, please do your best to distance yourself (2m) from other families that may also be waiting, dropping off or leaving the site.

It is vital to the safe running of the school that you arrive at the correct time in order to minimise the amount of people in one place at any one time.  If your children have different last names, please use the last name of the youngest child in school.

If you need to speak to a class teacher, then please contact the school office and the teacher will get back to you as soon as they are able.  Alternatively, you can send them a message on ClassDojo.

Please avoid coming to the school office unless absolutely necessary, but feel free to call at any time within school hours (01159156870).

Further Guidelines

•  School will once again be compulsory, therefore, if your child will not be attending school because of illness or any other reason, please phone the school office to report your child’s absence.

•  Uniform, in September, will be a requirement. Details of this can be found on the school website. If you can ensure that your child wears clothing that requires minimal assistance from staff e.g. shoes with Velcro fastening this would be helpful.

•  Children need only to bring essentials: coats and packed lunch boxes (if not dinners) and PE kits when needed.

•  Send children with their own named water bottle.

•  We will operate staggered playtimes, and children will only be allowed to mix with their own bubble.

•  We will operate a staggered lunchtime.  When the children go out to play at lunchtime, they will be in designated areas with their bubble.

•  Teachers in bubbles will remain as constant as possible and where a change in teacher is required, thorough hygiene measures will be in place.

•  We are hopeful that both breakfast and after school club will run as normal.  We will let you know by Friday 21st August.

•  We will be insisting on routine hand washing in school and all surfaces in school will undergo additional cleaning throughout the day.  Toilets will be cleaned more regularly throughout the day.

•  If your child has Covid-19 symptoms (high temperature, new persistent cough, loss of smell or taste) please do not send them to school and contact school to inform us.

•  In the event of a local lockdown or if we have a child or children who cannot attend school because of Covid-19, we will be providing home learning for these children that runs alongside what we are doing in school to ensure that children are not missing out on education.  We have reviewed how we deliver home learning to make it more accessible to our families and there is an expectation that it will be completed if a bubble or the school is closed.

We know that there is a lot of information and we thank you in advance for supporting us by adhering to the school expectations as outlined in this letter.

If you have any questions regarding this, please call the school office on Thursday or Friday (23rd /24th ). After which time, school will be closed for the summer break.

The Claremont Staff have missed having our children and look forward to seeing our families back in September, but in the meantime, we wish you a safe and happy summer break.
