5 Things of the week 08 06

Here is our daily dollop of learning a sound, colour, number, shape and language of the week.

Activity 1 Listen to the nursery rhyme

Literacy, Communication and Language

Click on the link to listen and join in with our Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. After you have finished can you try singing it by yourself without the video? You could even have lots of fun by acting it out when you sing it. Sitting on some pillows or cushions (on a soft floor)and pretending to fall is lots of fun too!

Activity 2 Understanding the meaning of the rhyme

Literacy, Communication and Language

Watch the video below about Humpty Dumpty. When you have finished can you answer these questions?

Where was Humpty Dumpty?

Who tried to help him?

Why do you think he was sitting on a wall?

‘Why’ questions help to develop speaking and listening skills. There is no specific answer to this question. Enjoy discussing lots of different scenarios. Here are some prompts you could use:

  • Was he trying to get something?
  • Was he playing a game?
  • Was he trying to run away from Incy Wincy spider?
  • Was he trying to look at something?

Let's learn about what the Humpty Dumpty rhyme means. Don't forget to answer the questions on our class page when you have finished.
