Claremont Primary and Nursery School

A Brighter Future for Everyone

Welcome back to home learning! By now we are all professional home learners! Let's try to see the silver lining - the weather is (slightly) better, and we can stay up late to watch the match without worrying about getting up early for school!

Let's have a great week!

Today we are learning the sound 'i', as in child.

This morning we are taking a close look at some well known stories and thinking about the characters, the setting and the plot. The setting is where the story takes place, and the plot is what will happen in the story.

Your job is to choose a story you like and write the characters, the setting and the plot. Then, try to invent your own story and do the same. You don't need to know exactly what will happen in your story yet, just a basic idea.  Give it a title, some characters and a plot.

We are doing this because you are going to write a story this week, and this is a good exercise to start you thinking about it.

Use the table on the worksheet to help you, the first 3 have been done for you.

This week in maths we are going to focus on money:

- recognising coins,

comparing coins,

- sorting coins,

- counting coins.

Monday Maths Challenge

Usually in Art we tell you what we are going to do and you need to do it. Today is different. We are going to tell you the theme of today's work, but what you do and how you do it are up to you. We really want you to use your imaginations and the resources you have in your homes.

The theme today is 'Woodland'.

You could make a woodland animal, insect, flower or plant. You could draw, paint, or collage. You could use recycling materials, or leaves and petals from your garden, You could use fruit and vegetables to print a picture, you could do a rubbing of textured items in your garden. There are some ideas, but we are sure you will have better ones!
