The athletics tournament at Ellis Guilford was our first tournament this accidemic year. 18 fantastic children from across year 5 and 6 took part in many Atlantic competitions today, resulting in Claremont going through to the final champenships in November. Great work from the year 6, Claremont Dodgeball team this afternoon, they battled against 4 other schools in a city dodgeball competition where they got to show off their impressive skills. Lots of fun was had, here are some of the photos from the afternoon.

Claremont were proud to come 6th out of 36 schools in the City in this year's athletic competition. The children today attended the final where they got to compete against the top schools in the City. This was the first year that Claremont entered the Athletics competition and what a fantastic achievement.
Over the last two weeks Claremont football team have been playing lots of matches both in the league and in the 5 - a - side touranament.

Claremont at Nottingham Forest Carnival
Today Claremont took part in the Nottingham forest Carnival, that saw them win 1, draw 2 and lose 4. What a great afternoon, all of the schools played well and Claremont had positive attitudes throughout. well done boys, here are some of the best bits from your match.

Tonight Claremont traveled to Burford to play there away game, even with the rain the boys played really well, passing the ball and going for the goals. This games Player of the match was Bradley, who scored 2 of Tonights goals. Well done boys, next game after half-term.

Claremont football team!
Today saw Claremonts new football team take to the pitch for the first time, today's match was against Southwark Primary School, in the cup match. Unfortunately, Claremont lost with a 7-4 win to Southwark, who now go onto to play future cup games. Claremont played a fantastic game with being 3-0 down at half time, but came back to be 4-3, with only 3 minutes to go. Well played Claremont, heads up ready for our first League match on Wednesday.

Tonight the boys played their first league match against St Clitherow, they played some superb football sharing the ball amounts the players and some wonderful teamwork, saw the best goals. Tonights player if the match was given to Joshua, who also scored a hatric this evening.

Sports Day 2016
The sun came out on Thursday for Claremont's Sports Day. All of the children and families had lots of fun with some of our traditional sports, followed by our competitive track runs, not forgetting finally the parent and teacher races. Here are some of the photos from the day.
CLP Olympic Sporting Event
It has been a busy week for sport at Claremont, On Wednesday Claremont represented themselves at Harvey Hadden sports centre. There were lots of great sporting events to take part in and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. In the afternoon it was the chance for the elite athletes to have a go at some track events. Claremont were lucky enough to take the Bronze medal home.
Athletic Sports Festival
Eight children from across year 5 and 6 took part in an indoor athletic tournament at Ellis Guildford today. The children tried out a range of sporting activities including Long jump, hurdles, sprints, relays and javelin. Out of the 9 other primary schools taking part Claremont came out third in the competition.

Olympic Torch Relay
This week Claremont celebrated the start of the CLP Olympics. Claremont was the first Nottingham City School to take the torch on the first leg of the race to Forest Fields Primary School. The children ran along the streets, carrying the torch with pride. Inside the torch Claremont left their school values and logo inside when it will be opened at Harvey Haden Sports Centre on Wednesday 13th July.
Olympic Day 2016
Claremont children today celebrated the fact that the Olympics are going to be held in Brazil later this summer, 4 years after they were held here in London. Each class in the school had a different country that are being represented in the Olympics this year. Each class have been doing work around their country, as well as experiencing some Brazilin dancing, to immerse the children in the hosts culture.

Under 11 League Winners!
It's official, Claremont are the Under 11 League winners for 2015-2016, here is a photo of the team claiming their medals.
Today, 8 fantastic children went to the Nottingham Tennis centre to take part in a tennis tournament. There were some fantastic rallys, all children had lots of fun and they will be awarded their certificates during next weeks awesome assembly.
Look how much fun we have been having at lunchtime, with our new equipment! The lunchtime leaders asked their classes what they wanted to see outside, they then helped place an order and its arrived!!
Claremont are holding a poster competition to support the CLP celebrations that are taking place on Wednesday 13th July. To enter all you need to do is design a poster, either on the computer or by hand with the following information included (click the link below) and hand it in to your class teacher by Friday 13th May.
If you are lucky enough to win the competition, then you will win a place at the CLP celebration where you will have the opportunity to represent Claremont. We will post the winning entry after the closing date on Friday 13th May.
It's finally the summer term and the sports clubs are back up and running. This is what you are able to take part in this half term:
Monday - Year 1 and 2 - Urban Hockey
Tuesday - Year 3 and 4 - Tennis
Wednesday - Year 5 and 6 - Cricket
All clubs run from 3:30 until 4:15, if you would like anymore information, pop into the school office and ask for more details.
Knocked out of the cup!!
Unfortunately Claremont were knocked out of the cup this evening. It was a fantastic match against St-Teresa's, with Claremont scoring the first goal of the match. However, St-Teresa's soon came back with an equaliser. St-Teresa's then took a second goal, followed quickly by their third. At half-time Claremont were feeling a little defeated, however after an insperational speech from the coach the team went into the second half fighting. Claremont scored a wonderful goal by Jaedon, who drove the ball down the pitch and scored. Claremont then scored their third goal. Four minutes of extra time were played with neither team scoring, meaning that the game came down to penalties. Unfortunately Claremont lost on penalties, meaning that St-Teresa's are through to the next round. One things for sure the Claremont boys never gave up, they played as a great team, with the determination to win. Well done.

Claremont are extremely proud of its team for winning the Nottingham city league, so as a reward the children were treated to a friendly against the Claremont staff on Tuesday evening. Claremont's final league match

Basketball with Jimmy Jump Shot
Year 5 have had a fantastic half term learning how to play basket basketball with Jimmy. They have learnt new skills and techniques. The children then had the opportunity to play in a number of matches to show off their skills. Here they are in their Claremont Kit before the match.

Claremont played in a league match last night against Hayden, it was an extremely great match to watch, with some fantastic football skills from both sides. Claremonts goals were scored by: Shaquil, Xander and Theo. Theo was then awarded man of the match from the referee, for his fantastic sportsmanship throughout the whole game. Here is his interview:

Another great win, last night from the football team. The first goal was scored in under 10 seconds by Shaquil. With a further two goals being scored in the second half by Theo and Kayden. A great game, secured another three points in the league.
Man of the Match - Timmy
Wow what a week for the Claremont football team, Tuesday's 5-A-Side tournament saw us through the preliminary round into the final. Come and support us at Harvey Haden on Tuesday 24th November from 4pm.
Wednesday night, saw the team play Hayden with a 2-0 win, goals scored by Theo and Jaedon. Jaedon was awarded man of the match!!
Thursday night, was a double match against Seeley, held at the forest recreational ground. The first match was a 1-0 win to Claremont. Goal scored by Shaqil. Man of the match was award to Shaqil.

The second match against Seeley, ended with a 2-0 win for Claremont. Both goals were scored by Shaqil, with an incredible header. Man of the match was awarded to Theo.

This week Claremont Football have a very busy schedule, with the preliminary rounds in a 5-A-Side Tournament on Tuesday 10th November. Followed by two league matches on Wednesday 11th November against Hayden and Thursday 12th November against Seely. Both of the League Matches will be held at the Forest Recreational Ground, from 4pm. Fell free to come down and support our team.

A great game tonight at our home pitch, Forest Recreational Ground. A spectacular win with two goals from Kayden, and a goal each from Jaedon, Theo and Shaqil. Man of the Match was award to Bartek. This means we are through to the next stage of the cup, this game will be played in the new year.
