Welcome to the EAL page!
At Claremont we celebrate the diversity of our pupils and this page is dedicated to our EAL pupils, who have English as an additional language and come to Claremont from around the world!
Our EAL specialist is Mrs Firzana Khalid, she works closely with our teachers to ensure our EAL children have an appropriate induction process and assists with their English speech and language progress.
Mrs Khalid has worked at the school for 19 years and is passionate about helping children meet their full potential.
At the moment Mrs Khalid is teaching English to our EAL pupils. They are learning:
to talk about themselves in english
how to greet people
naming the different areas of the school and knowing what happens there e.g.. assemblies in the hall, dining hall for dinner times
the names of their teachers
We have been looking at traditional fairy tales. We have been learning about:
- story language. "Once upon a time..."
- characters in a story.
- Story recounts.
- linking our own experiences to a story.
This is our Language Group!
We have been answering lots of questions about ourselves and our school!
Our trip to Goose Fair
On Friday 2nd October, some children went on a trip to Goose Fair. We wanted to find out what was there.
We've been learning the names of items in our home. Also how to answer questions about our home.
We worked in pairs to cut and stick items in the home and talked about which room we thought they belonged in.
Bianca in 5LP drew this wonderful picture of rooms in her house.
