Welcome to 5MD's class page!
Here you will be able to keep track of all of the awesome work we have been doing throughout the year.
Who's who in 5MD?
Miss Davis is our class teacher.
Mrs Eadon will teach us on Fridays.
Mrs McDonald will teach Science on Wednesday afternoons.
Mr Peel works across both year 5 classes to support our learning.
Throughout Year 5, children will have daily English, Reading and Maths lessons. They will also have Spelling, Handwriting, Topic and Science lessons once a week.
Our topic for Spring 1 is:
Our class book will be 'Holes' written by Louis Sachar.
We will be basing our English work on the story. Children will write adventure stories and non-chronological reports about desert survival.
We will be focusing on Art, ICT and Geography in our Topic lessons.
Our topic for the Autumn term is:
Children will learn all about the Victorians throughout the Autumn term.
Our topic lessons will incorporate History, Geography, Art, Computing and Design and Technology.
Our English lessons will also focus on the Victorian times. Our first class story will be Street Child.
We are looking forward to finding out what happens in the story.
PE - every Thursday morning
PE kits must be in school every day. Children should wear a white top, black shorts and black trainers.
Spelling and Maths homework to be handed in weekly.
Topic project homework to be completed throughout the half term and handed in by the end of half term.
Election Week in 5MD
5MD are represented in three areas of school life this year.
We have a behaviour leader, a pupil voice representative and an eco warrior.
All of the children became very excited by our elections.
Twelve children in the class ran a campaign to be elected into one of the three roles. All of the children did this in their own time, showing their dedication to the roles and responsibilities.
Children made posters, flags and badges to persuade their friends to votes for them.
They also wrote and delivered a speech to explain why they would be the best person for the job.
Everyone did extremely well and Miss Davis was impressed by all children who took part.
