Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too!

This half term we are writing stories and using characters from Winnie the Pooh as our inspiration. We are exploring what goes in to making a good story and applying our SPaG skills.

 

We are also exploring Great Britain in our topic sessions thinking about famous times, places, landmarks and people including Florence Nightingale.

Around the world in 80 legs

We have been learning about the geography of the world through exploration of different continents including the environment, landscape, habitats and ability to live there.

 

We explored how animals adapted to live in certain places and this was topped off with a trip to the zoo, where our skills were put to the test in a habitat lesson.

Beginning to construct our Tudor Houses

'Fire and Ice'

This half term we are learning about 'The Great Fire of London' thinking about the historical elements of this. We will learn how it happened, who started it, when it happened and how it stopped.

 

We will produce information texts, play scripts and a newspaper report linking it the recent fire at Nottingham station.

 

We will compare old and new fire equipment and fire services, as well as building Tudor houses with moving fire in Design and Technology!

 

We will have a visit from the current fire service, explore ice and carry out experiments during ice day and partake in a theatre production of the Great Fire of London.

We came back and found our lost property all over the floor and a note from the 'Aliens love underpants' aliens saying they needed some pants to fly home but couldn't find any! They asked if we could design them some...  

We had a craft afternoon and our parents came to help us!
